Call for submissions

BBa is back!

In this moment, it is important that we curate spaces for Black people to connect around ideas of resilience, displacement, power, and imagination. We want you to share your stories, ideas, and visions with us!

For this special re-launch of Black Bottom Archives, we are asking that Black people submit literary, audio, visual, or video content with the theme of “The Black City.” While our platform is centered around the unique experiences of Black Detroiters, we want to use this opportunity to make connections between the stories of Detroit with Black people across the diaspora. Submissions from those living outside of Detroit are welcome.

We’re looking for pieces that seek to answer these kinds of questions:

  • What is Black identity in the city?
  • What does a Black city look/sound/feel like?

  • What is the value of a Black City?

*NEW* Deadline: September 29, 2017

How to Submit:

We are always accepting general submissions on a rolling basis. Share your art, stories, or reviews with us anytime via email,
