Art changes life. And art is changing. This year our Art of change 21 project has been exploring the role of art and culture in creating an equitable and just society through dialogues with artists, cultural leaders, scholars, and social justice activists. A key component has been the work of the Art of change 21 Fellows (www.artofchange.is), 13 creative visionaries working at the forefront of art and social change.
Over the course of the year, the Fellows –
Robert Battle
Thelma Golden
Amitav Ghosh
David Henry Hwang
Deeyah Khan
Arnold Lehman
Joy Mboya
Laura Poitras
Bill Rauch
Toshi Reagon
Pedro Reyes
Albie Sachs and
Carrie Mae Weems
– have pursued independent projects on critical issues such as surveillance, climate change, drug policy and capitalism, soft power, diversity in the arts, social networks and the power of technology.

To celebrate and recognize the inspiring work of the Fellows over the past year, we are hosting The Artists of Change: Conversations with the Ford Fellows on January 15, 2016 at the Foundation’s offices in New York. This will be a day-long creative forum during which these change agents will share their work and spark lively conversation around the ideas they are exploring, with the audience and each other.

The day will include a variety of formats including dialogues between Fellows, multimedia presentations, performances, and roundtable discussions. To enable broad global participation, we will be streaming the entire day-long event live from the Art of change 21 website.
